I am not enticed to watch any of them but I wasn't this season either and I fell in love with K-ON and East of Eden and didn't even know there was going to be a second FMA which I am drawn to big time.

What I may check out are:

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 - Its done by Bones and they make gold plus it has an interesting plot.

Needless - Sounds somewhat interesting.

Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei - Sounds interesting enough to check out.

Canaan - Another one that the plot peaks my interest.

I think I'll watch Needless Bakemonogatari and maybe Canaan.

I pretty much gave up on Eden of the East, so me and anime aren't on friendly terms atm.

But Zan Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei, Cobra, Spice and Wolf II (Cause the first one was actually pretty good)

The rest look too kiddy, or kind of shitty.

Wilham

Eden of the East finished up nicely though.

Eh, even then I just kind of lost interest on it, I know alot of people liked it but I only thought the chick was a cute character, I didn't really care about the plot as a whole.

So when it started taking those sharp turns with the supporter and all that, I got off.

I drop alot of anime.

Thats understandable. I wasn't into it at first and actually after episode 3 stopped watching but then I decided to try it again a few weeks later and got into it. I am not really a big fan of anime I just find myself drawn to different shows. I generally wont watch an anime if I am reading the manga for obvious reasons unless again I am drawn in by it i.e. FMA.

The biggest example is K-ON!. Before it I would have never imagined myself watching an anime about a group of high school girls forming a band. But when watching it I was drawn to it by Yui and not Mio like the masses. Her character is unique and along side the others in the band it just has something special.

For this new season one I think I will probably watch is Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. The plot is interesting as I am interested in disasters and such. Also I like how different characters band together in critical times.

And in all honesty I will stay primarily with manga and watch the occasional anime here and there.

The magnitude show looks interesting, but not enough to really make me think I'd watch it. Gai-Rei-Zo was interesting, but I'm still only on episode two, as well as Bounen no Xam'd/Darker then Black, a set of shows that came from stuido Bones that I totally should have watched and thought about watching but didn't watch.

I'm not really an anime fan, seeing as I can't stomach alot of things and would rather just watch CSI in my spare time, but I do enjoy a good story which is what Spice in Wolf brings to the table as while the plot wasn't particularly bombastic it was well put together enough to want to watch.

But whats got my attention the most out side of another season of SZS is Cobra.

I read the manga just to see what it was like, and with a character as old as Captain Harlock it should be promising. This seasons Guin Saga has taught me that sometimes old shows can be worth a look and might turn out okay, while Guin is just the forefather to Berserk, Cobra is a forefather to majority of the "badass" characters and should be worth a good look two.

As far as K-ON is concerned, I see where you are coming from. Admitedllty, Haruhi is as far as I want to go where Slice of Life is concerned, and considering Season 2 is still airing at the same time as these shows, I'll be good to keep that one on hold. Not that K-ON isn't bad but it just didn't hook me, Japanese girls looking cute and playing music can only draw oh-so-many.

I changed my mind. I'll check all of them out.

Only the continuation of Axis Powers Hetalia. Nothing else seems interesting at all.

I want more shoujo. :[ It's such a huge market, so it doesn't make sense that there aren't more shoujo anime.

Have to say I was pleased with Canaan but Needless was not as good as I hoped. Hopefully it gets better or I wont be keeping up with it.

This thread has now been hijacked by me for my own selfish reasons.

Thank You :amuse
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So what do you guys think so far of the line up now that the shows are actually airing?

Wilham
08/11/2009, 09:35 AM
Like I said in another thread I was so excited to watch like 7 different shows but now I have no want to watch any except FMA: Brotherhood. I did however catch up with Uminako or whatever the name is, the murder mystery one and I like what I saw but again I am not excited anymore for any of them. I was stoked to watch Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 and after the second episode I liked it but just couldn't stay committed.

I am probably going to change my game plan and go ahead and wait til all of the current summer shows finish and then watch them all in one at separate times.

Johnnu
08/11/2009, 09:43 AM
Canaan is alright
Princess Lover is really quite funny xD
FMA: BH is awesome
Haruhi 2009 is good better since Endless Eight ended :O

I have given up hope on canaan since ep 3.

Umineko no Nakukoro Ni - I am pretty into this anime even tho the last ep trolled the shit out of me.

Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei - since there where 2 season out before that I tried watching them but i got to like ep 10 and stopped. Its definitely a funny ep but shit just gets boring after a while

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 - I dont even want to talk about this anime.

Johnnu
08/11/2009, 10:07 AM
Try Needless and Princess Lover
I rec them both because they seem the best to me.

Tousen
08/11/2009, 10:31 AM
Well isnt everyone saying needless is garbage?

I forgot to put princess lover on my other post but i am watching that. Its hard for me to get use to the release dates since i am so use to bleach dropping on thrusday.

Wilham
08/11/2009, 11:07 AM
This discussion has actually made me somewhat want to start watching these anime again.

Tousen - I haven't watch Tokyo Magnitude since episode 2, is it really that bad?

Tousen
08/11/2009, 11:27 AM
I personally thought it was garbage. I stopped at ep.2 I mean looking at the title the anime itself is about a 8.0 earthquake. Since the big earthquake already hit what else is there to talk about

Bakemonogatari is really good. It's alittle hard to follow at times but I like the dialogue and the style.

For some reason, I like Aoi Hana as well. It's probably just the way they do things, but I think its cute.

Tousen
08/11/2009, 12:23 PM
Well maybe im getting my animes mixed up. I think there was one anime that everyone agree it was horrible

Pluto

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0

Ep 1 - ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Ep 2 - Fuck yeah, Earthquake.

Ep 3-12 ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Basquash is awesome, tho I can't find time to watch past episode 10.

Dragonball Kai is a fun time, everytime.

FMA: BH is awesome on steroids. I forgot how great this series started.

One Piece is kicking ass with Amazon Lily. Terrific animation.

Naruto is snoooooooooooooze. Like Sasuke or not, this bit of the series is just a drag until the Deidera fight. Kakashi Gaiden was superb tho.

Bleach is above par consistently lately. The Winter War translates awesome into anime, and the new filler arc ups standards for filler arcs everywhere.

I can't bring myself to start anymore series.

Can someone please watch Umineko no Nakukoro Ni with me so i can have someone to talk to everyweek?

It really is a good/decent anime

@Juggaloe yea i dont think Op, Naruto, Bleach really count as animes that came out this summer.

Johnnu
08/12/2009, 09:50 AM
But they are still producing episodes so they are technically Summer 2009 episodes because of the rotation >_>

But technically they arent because none of those animes started in 09. If that was the case this thread would be completely useless because then we would be talking about any anime that is still airing till the current date which is not what we are doing here.

Humblest apologies. I was just listing the animes I watch in case anyone was interested. I'm not trying to bring shounen 3 discussion in here.

Do try a little harder in spelling my username tho.

That show with that annoying UGYUU girl?

Dropped it long ago brah, just not my style.

Tousen
08/12/2009, 12:46 PM
i admit it was pretty bad that one ep but after her mom laided her pimp hand down on her she barely does it.

The anime has pretty much turned into the game of clue.

Wilham

I detest that little girl Maria. She is the only character I don't like. Other than that it was alright. I am up to where all the servants were killed and they found Maria singing. I am looking forward to seeing who the killer is and who will survive.

It's still just not my thing.

I love mystery probably more then the average Joe, but my impression of this show is too poor to be able to make it much further. The artwork is really bland and kind of turns me off, whole thing looks like it was done in 06. The storytelling, if you could call it that, is predictable as well by unpredictable means. (Ex. You don't know who and how someone is going to die, but the story pretty much points to the fact that someone is going to get knocked.)

Ultimately, I guess I got too spoiled by Detective Conan, who brought a more interesting on the whole thing. The artwork is shit, but its old. The story is minimal, but the characters are believable. The way they go about it is much better, because every single episode is like a game of clue, where they give you hints as to who did what and you can try to figure out the guilty part before the badass Saxaphone bit kicks in and Conan solves the case as Richard Moore.

I usually don't drop shit for nothing, but I can see that it isn't for me. Before when that study was doing murder stories about little girls, I lol'd and didn't watch it either.

I absolutely adore Maria. I admit, it's easy to detest her from what anime watchers have seen, but then again, they're cutting out so much character development that it's not really surprising. The other sides you're seeing of her is the one who's helplessly abused by her mother, and an annoying little tart with crazyfaces. Not the way she is at all, I assure you. She has had an extremely difficult life, and during the fourth game, I cried a bit going through her past. She has had to deal with so much troublesome things, yet she remains positive. It's tragic that she has to conjure up an ideal world where her mother loves her.

Bakemonogatari confirmed for best anime of summer.
