We definitely need more traffic and active members here. It's turning into more and more of a dull place in this vast internet. The one thing to solve this would be to advertise. Now, it's obvious, if we want people to do this, they need to be rewarded. Hard (or atleast repetetive) work should be rewarded, so I'm trying to come up with a system.

ChikushoBaka Advertising System:

How/what do I advertise?
To advertise, all you have to do is copy any quoted texts below, and spread the word.

Are you interested in manga, anime, cosplaying, art or even music, debating and general chit-chat? If you are, check out www.chikushobaka.com/forums. ChikushoBaka is an established and well run forum, mainly revolving around - but hardly limited to - anime and manga. If you want to find yourself in a great forum community, then ChikushoBaka is the place to go.

If anyone wants to contribute any advertising messages, just PM to me to edit in or something, 2-3 more would be good.

Some sites such as youtube may not allow you to post direct links to other websites. You may find yourself having to change the link to our forums into something like this;

www[dot]chikushobaka[dot]com/forums

What should I specifically advertise on?
There are many sites you can target. Focusing on anime, manga or even just Japanese related videos on youtube would be advertising to the type of audience we're trying to attract. You can advertise anywhere you like, though keep in regards, we are predominately an anime based forum. Advertising on other forums in general is a good idea. Instead of listing specific sites or forums for you to visit, a certain Google can help you find any such medium to advertise on.

Proving you've advertised:
To prove to the community that you really have done a good job of advertising, links to each and every post you make advertising CB is required. For a youtube video, or anything of the sorts, a link to the video is sufficient (or a screenie to the page if the video is popular, and comments move fast, with yours not on the first page or two). Any certain staff member will check the links you post, and will do so thoroughly. There is a thread dedicated to people posting the links in which they've advertised, found here (obviously, I'll insert the link when made).

Advertising Rewards:
Apart from helping out your forum community, you will receive rewards, depending on the quantity of your efforts.

Reward System:
25 Links:
50 Links:
100 Links:
200 Links:
300 Links:
400 Links:
500+ Links:

Advertising Record:
User/Amount advertised
-None; none

================

Alright, now here's the problem. I can't think of any rewards. Everything involving editing your username/title/whatever is available as an established member, including having a big avatar. I'll need some suggestions.

sounds like a good plan I think. I want more opinions on this though ^^

What are we talking about, like emailing people or putting it on our myspace or what? I'm not sure I'd be down to bug people individually about joining, but if there's an easy way to bug them all at once, I'll try it. Putting it on youtube is an alright idea, but I have nothing I'd want to put on youtube.

How about a youtube making project?

^I was thinking on just putting links on your myspace/faceboon w/e and stuff like that. bugging people generally isn't a good idea. I dunno what Cax had in mind specifically tho'

Maybe I didn't explain it enough. The main idea of this is to copy and paste some of the advertisement quotes onto other forums, videos (mainly youtube) and whatever else sites you can post comments on.

I think it's a splendid idea, I've used this on a couple forums that I've put up or run. Basically go to like anime top sites or manga top site that allow you to advertise and also allow the forum to be voted on which if it gets ranked up there above most others it gets free publicity from those sites. That and you can try and advertise on websites, blogs and forums your already on if it's allowed, sig links work wonders especially if you post alot anywhere else.
As far as rewards go:

1: customized profiles
2: friending abilities
3: haxed out avas
4: special reward medals (vb has a app for this)
5: potential mod for a day kinda thing
6: VIP representation (specialized color and possibly their own forum area)
7: like the above but just for advertisers until a certain rank then moved to vip

Yea I'm done. If I think of anymore I'll post them later.

Oh good idea, I've posted links in some websites, but it hasn't seemed to work yet :[

You would have to prove you advertised though, to receive an award.

Good idea, terrible plan of execution

Mass PMing never works, atleast on NF and every other large communtiy I've been to.
CB itself needs to be/offer something interesting and/or different to attract new members.

If you want to argue that CB already does offer something interesting eg. Legend and Gaming Projects, I'd say guess again, since the average potential member doesn't give a damn about those things.

"What kinda things then?" You know, the usual ie. movie/game/anime reviews, gaming news, free hosted manga, HD content, games, warez, porn etc :cookie

Another good way to capture alot of new members is by having a CB Team who cleans/scans/trans popular unfinished manga/doujin and then releases it first/fast on onemanga/mangafox/etc with a CB advertisement page at the front/end

Yare yare...
If we are going to Peddle Smut then its going to have to be more than like 3 people.
We will need a request section with about ten people give or take 2 at most.

I can vouch for the Alternative group.
Tentacle
Latex
Futanari

You all seem to be skipping one important thing; youtube video advertising will reach out to the most people. All you do, for instance, is search for TTGL videos. Then you find a shitload, and advertise on all of them, copying and pasting the advertisement quote(s).

Thats called spamming which leads to ppl reporting as spam and Youtube banning you :cookie

That's why you make fake accounts. And generally, or atleast hopefully, on the anime videos we advertise on, people will actually take notice to the messages.

If there are people that take notice of spam and Nigerian offers, they aren't the kind of ppl I'm looking for for my forums :cookie

I'm thinking a better, non-spammy way to go about things is to make an appearance on other forums, being the cool, interesting people we are, and having a nice, hopefully witty sig advertisement for CB. Another idea would be to make actual youtube videos that others may peep, and then putting something like a CB logo or slogan at the end.

One thing I think this forum does offer is multiple ways to outlet creativity, even though the end results may not be things everyone's interested in. Making a youtube of those may garner some attention without seeming spammy, like a montage of skotm or potf winners, or Legend chapters typed up and set to music, or something like that.

Anyway, just spitballing ideas here. I do like the idea of advertising, but the things listed by Prada seem way out of mere-member abilities, though he makes excellent points.

^Juggjugg has some neat ideas there :]

....and we should probably steer clear of spamming. :cookie
