I wanna camera

I need to get one cuz I wanna. The problem is that I studied photography in college, including using aperture and shutterspeed to make good shots, but now everything's moved to digital and you can't adjust a damn thing with the POS's. Someone help meh find one that's not a ripoff and won't force me to look like a rank amateur.

Well if you want a decent DSLR then one of the following I would suggest: -

Nikon D3000
Canon 1000D <--What I have
Canon 450D
Sony Alpha 230

They are probably the best budget DSLRs, but you might not be looking for something like that. What's your budget?

I have an extensive budget, but I don't want it to be eaten alive by this. Let's say $200. Used to be you could get a very nice manual camera for less than that.

BTW what's DSLR stand for? :E

basically a digital camera with an analog (= non-digital) optical viewfinder

If you want midrange: the Canon EOS 450D, otherwise I'd recommend the 1000D, you should be able to get it with a zoomlens for around $400

also you studied photography in college? how long ago was this assuming there were no DSLR's on the market?

I was in college 00 to 04, and that was junior year I believe, but maybe sophomore, so like 7 or 8 years ago. :E Although I took intro to media arts, which dealt heavily in the artistry of photography more than the mechanics, in 00 and 04. >.> At that time the professors told us that everything was gonna go digital very soon and that half of what we were doing would be useless in a couple years. :facepalm

Also took film making and script writing, and a class team of 4 that I was in developed a commercial for the SC State Lottery which aired briefly on TV. *brag*
